Som...Hi Mr Cherbi,

I find your comments interesting. Some of it, I think, is right. The Law Society of Scotland is quite cliquey and I am glad that its regulatory powers are going to be opened up and given to a new complaints commission.

I think your comments about paralegals are right. Just because the legal services industry will be opened up, as (I think) it will post-Clementi, does not mean that things will get better. Poor legal service can be given just as easily from a solicitor as a paralegal (or Legal Executive or Advocate). We must be rigorous in policing all the actions of 'law professionals'.

I wonder why you have just been fixing your beady eye on Turcan Connell? I see Pagan Osborne were mentioned in an article you cited the other day and they have been - through Bill Pagan - responsible for some disastrous private client service for years. I am annoyed that they keep popping up everywhere (sponsoring things) acting like they are clean as a whistle.

Anyway, your thoughts are interesting and I think we're definitely moving in the right direction. Trust me, though, there are lawyers who sympathise with what you say and would like more transparency in the profession -- it's not all a conspiracy!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20722989.post-51963257387494569342007-08-14T17:53:00.000+01:002007-08-14T17:53:00.000+01:00I tried to make a complaint against the way a para...I tried to make a complaint against the way a paralegal handled the work on a land sale & purchase which was supposed to have been done by our lawyer. He lied, said he had done the work but the Law Society Report identified one of the paralegals in his office though the paperwork refs. The lawyer made a statement to the Law Society about us in favour of his paralegal and the Law Society dropped the complaint. We never got to know what the lawyer said which caused the complaint to be dropped but 3 months ago we heard our (ex) lawyer had been having an affair with this paralegal for over a year and had taken her holidays.I wrote back to the Law Society to ask to see what had been said in the complaint and they now say they have lost all the paperwork.

Paralegals in my experience then are just as bad as the lawyers and I agree with you the public cant trust them either.I was looking for an email to contact you can you provide it pleaseAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20722989.post-51542981334794915352007-08-14T15:18:00.000+01:002007-08-14T15:18:00.000+01:00These paralegals are as poisonous as lawyers and t...These paralegals are as poisonous as lawyers and there are just as many.Who regulates them ? themselves as usual for the crooks in the legal system.

PARALEGALS ARE AS DANGEROUS AS CROOKED LAWYERSAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20722989.post-11490100937008358492007-08-14T04:25:00.000+01:002007-08-14T04:25:00.000+01:00Hmmm very convincingly put Mr Cherbi.I think I wil...Hmmm very convincingly put Mr Cherbi.I think I will avoid using anyone who works in a lawyers office for anything if I can help it.

I like your example of Mr Penman. All respect to you for your campaign and things but I would not have been able to put up with what he did to you and your family.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20722989.post-65081527701389135222007-08-13T20:32:00.000+01:002007-08-13T20:32:00.000+01:00Thanks, that confirms what I thought about paraleg...Thanks, that confirms what I thought about paralegals.

Good blog Mr Cherbi.
